Back to hockey talk, that is. We are back in the full swing of all things rink-related. Derek had a tournament in North Battleford on the weekend, and it was a really good time. The boys won their first three games to take first in their pool, but then lost the semi-final game Sunday morning to a really strong team from Kinistino/Birch Hills. We saw some good hockey. And we had a lot of fun. This is hard for me to believe, but it was the first time Clem and I were ever at one of the boys’ tournaments together! I guess one of us always had to stay home for another son’s games. We made the most of it, and enjoyed lots of time with some other hockey parents while the kids hung out together, swimming or eating or whatever they do when their parents are all in a hotel room having “refreshments” and laughing a lot. Derek’s playing has improved a lot this year. He is doing some nice hitting and passing, and has a lot more confidence out there. And his recaps of the games are hilarious! He talked all the way home yesterday.
It was nice to come back to a house in the same condition as we left it. That didn’t always happen when our boys were all living here!! Ben is back from his Christmas break at home in the NWT, and we have another billet again, Dustin from Minnesota. They seem to be getting along well, and I can find no evidence of a party in our absence, so all is good. The Rage won their game last night, which was nice to see, as it was only their fifth win this season, and the first time they’ve ever won two games in a row! Maybe things are looking up!
So that’s about it around here. Thanks for stopping in!
